8tracks
New playlist tool setup for sharring mixtapes via the interweb. I think muxtape > 8track but, the coolest part of this is the ability to embed on pages. If muxtape can copy that they will be the biggest boss that you’ve seen thus far. Below, my first 8track playlist. For more info check thrillist’s write up.
Kid Cudi
short video about, in my opinion, one of the best new artist out right now. I’ve had his 10Deep mixtape A Kid Named Cudi blasting for a good two weeks now and I don’t see it dropping out of the rotation. I saw the kid perform at SummerStage about 4 days after the mixtape dropped and the crowd was loving it. Great stage presence already…check the video above and visit his...

Chandler Bing and the "Subtle Art" of the Mixtape
patrickcassels:
Toward the end of the 2000 movie “High Fidelity,” John Cusack’s love-struck record store owner/narrator tells the audience, “The making of a good compilation tape is a very subtle art. Many Dos and Don’ts. First of all you’re using someone else’s poetry to express how you feel. This is a delicate thing.”
Cusack’s speech is as good an explanation of the mixtape’s virtues as one...

new flick from Oliver Stone about George Dub…
check the trailer below.
Underpants gnomes
This was such a strange/classic South Park episode… and it seem the concept of the gnomes business plan is being used across the internet to describe many a start up company. Over the last few years South Park has done so many episodes that tap in to the exact problems with people/America/business and more, this is a great example. Read more about the episode here. Watch a clip from the...
College humor videos
wow… college humor is just plain huge now. All of the brands in Connected Ventures seem to be very successful and the amount of original programing coming from their team is always great.
I remember in ‘01 when the site was site was doing what most blogs are now - just linking to some of the best stuff online. I would spend so much time just clicking through their list of links, and...
Shorts and flip flops
One of the benefits of working in the industry I do is the dress code. As I walked past the dudes sweating it out in suits on my way to lunch I had to enjoy the fact that I was wearing the most casual of clothing today. Its not like I wear shorts every day to work, but if I’m going to work in this business when the pay isn’t always great, its good to take advantage of the perks. For me...

A few links, videos, etc.
Why Former Addicts Dread Addiction Memoirs: Interesting take on the David Carr write up I posted about here. I know Mo really did not like his writing, but maybe its what the writing was about that seemed so awful.

Chad Vadar
Patrignelli comes through and reminds me of the classic Youtube series Chad Vadar… for any Star Wars fan, its really worth checking out. It has over 7 million views but still, a great series.
...and f pigeons...
Drew has a lot of evil in him. If this were a more popular blog with lots of comments he would probably take the time to hate on the commenters… bit since it is just me, he hates on me. I’ve been planning out this project with a them of pigeons, it will probably never start… but its an idea. Drew thinks its “homo things” for me to be working on any art work… and...
busy morning...
feeling a bit swamped today, so I probably wont have to many chances to update, but I did want to post this vid of Nas on the Colbert Report last night. Thanks to Patrignelli for the call to let me know he was a guest.

90's Hip Hop spotlight : DMX
DMX, indicted on new charges. This is something like the 5th time in 3 months. X, what happened? I know there have been a number of claims that Earl was a heavy abuser of drugs back in the day, and although he claims he has stopped, he clearly has some type issues beating him down. But I don’t want to focus on the negatives of Dark Man X, I want to remember one of the artists who changed...
Morning links
I had a great collection of links yesterday and for some reason the kept crashing the tumblr add a post tool. Finally the thing seems to be working again, so here are some stories from yesterday and today:

Seth’s Blog: 12 proven ways to get your post to the top of digg
Great post from the master Seth Godin. Which makes me think.. is it worth it for me to have Diggable links on my posts? I guess not yet since so little of what I have worked on has been original… but more of that is coming. Once I get this blogging thing to a place where it is worth it for others to share I’ll add...
David Elsewhere videos

Take a Report- Billy Joel →
From the drewbear blog, reblogged:
drewbear:
After several monthes on hiatus I have returned with a must read blog.
Please read the post about this guy’s trip to Shea Stadium for the Billy Joel concert last week. His entire blog is hilarious but the “We Didn’t Start the Fire…” post is solid gold. We also share the same thoughts on what a hometown handshake from Sarah Jessica Parker would feel...
time wasting
Awesome forms to help you pass the time at work.
Form 1: The Checklist
A work simulator. If you perform all the actions on the form, nobody will be able to tell that you’re actually wasting your time instead of working.
Form 2: The Call list
A game to play on the phone with unsuspecting callers. Introduces a sense of competition between co-workers, as competition sets in for the...
Mercadito vs Mercadito Cantina
Went out for dinner last night with Mo and based on a friends recommendation we checked out this new spot Mercadito Cantina. A bit pricey but you can’t really beat the drinks. Probably the most complicated/unique drink selection I’ve seen in a while, which is great - but this place was packed. Apparently it was a ‘tasting’ night for a lot of invited magazines and press,...
Cape Cod pics revisited.
Posting these again to test out this cool new photo browser that interacts with any Flickr account.

Mick Boogie x 6th Sense - Just Do It: A Mixtape...
Just checkin’ this out now. Here is the full blurb from 2dopeboyz:
One more post before I lay down and just … lay there. I swear I can’t sleep for shit lately. Dah well, 6th Sense shot me this a little while ago and I was waiting for him tomake the post himself so I could follow up on it. Teaming up with Mick Boogie to commemorate a trip they made to Nike’s HeadQuarters in Portland. This...
Morning readings
First off, this great video from PES, making pasta from classic toys, games, cash and more:
In-House Bars Hark Back to the Golden Age of Advertising: Shouldn’t every company have a space reserved for an in-house bar? I would probably stay a couple extra hours once or twice a week, and the best brainstorm moments happen when drinking. This lists the best Agency bars including one spot...
Flickr update
I broke the limit of Flickr and had to upgrade to a Pro account, although at 25 a month, it should be worth it. I have uploaded pictures from the Cape Cod trip and should have more up soon. To see them all check out photofeed on the right rail, or click here.
Scott Storch still struggles.
This guy was a huge name only a couple years ago and now hes ‘missing’ in action, stuck behind legal troubles and bad promotion. Dude got way too full of himself and made a lot of mistakes. Check the full story here.
Murakami x Louis Vuitton
I had never seen this before, but a 5 min movie directed my Takashi Murakami. His exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum was great although I think it just came down.
Original Obama poster up for auction
Just spotted this at Kanye’s blog. I had posted about this poster way back in January but now one of the originals has been donated to Russell Simmon’s Life Auction. The piece is mixed media stencil on a 4x6 foot cotton rag. Current bid is $108,000. Place your bid here.

M.E.T.H.O.D MAN!
Method Man attempt to crowd surf. This would be exactly what keeps most artists from trying this. Its like getting dropped in a team building exercise.
Greg Norman at the Open.
I was about to walk out the door, but I had to stay and watch the end of the Open. Norman is having a rough go of it, and it looks like Harrington will finish this out leading by 2 with 3 to go.
One of the thing I found interesting about Norman was what was in his bag. He really is playing all MacGregor, which now a days is strange, MacGregor has almost no tour players. Below is what is in his...
Summer linking list
While on vacation I was a bit to busy having fun and drinking beer to read through the large number of great pieces from the Adage newsletters. I ofcourse had a bit more time when I was back at work. Here are some of the top stories I was reading last week:

College memories...
Way back in sophomore year of college my old Roomate Steve and I had these fake security cameras I found on ebay. They were 8 bucks a pop and we had a couple screwed in to the ceiling int the 8x10 dorm room we called home in West at Uconn. I remember girls always freaking out when they would notice the camera start to move. These little guys had a motion detector and would go back and forth for...
iPhone envy
Its starting to set in. A couple guys at work waited out for the phone and had it this week. It reall does look sleek in both the black and the white. I’m stuck in this contract till February, and even with the price now $199 I can’t see dropping the cash, even with cool accessories link this popping up:
Pick one of these up here.
Vinyl bowl
Cool idea from ApartmentThearpy for taking old Records and turning them into something useful. Most interesting part of this post was the reader comments on how dagnerous this could be for you to do at home on your stove. A reader suggested trying this out doors on hot day and staying away from the records. It sounds easy enough and I might have to try it.
Also, check out that cool eyechart...
