SINGLE ART: Mayer Hawthorne ft. Children of the Night “Maybe So, Maybe No (remix)

Part two of the series of self made and designed single artwork. The previous post got some decent feedback so I figured I would stick to my word about producing one of these a week.

The photo comes courtesy of Dan Dealy. Dan and I caught the show at Mercury Lounge on Friday October 2nd, and had a chance to meet/interview Mayer before he took the stage. Below the video interview, and a link to the original post/slideshow on The Volume:

No specific inspiration for this piece. This photo was my favorite from the set Dan took and I originally wanted to do an illustrator trace/rotoscope look for the image but with time constraints went with this posterized/color push look. The line work is simple non-gridded layout designed to give left-to-right movement to the piece. A light gradient was applied over the bar and lines and repeat blur of Mayer is dropped over everything, fading to the right. Stay tuned for next week’s cover.
