Track of the Day - Blu ‘Amnesia’
I haven’t done a track of the day in a while, mostly because I haven’t been keeping up with music like I usually do. After a hard work week, including working all weekend, I took tonight to finally start to catch up on my downloading. In the last two few hours I’ve listened to a new Juan Epstein with Maino, a part of the Max B mixtape, some of the NASA album, and a slew of leaked and web only tracks. Thanks to these guys.
I am once again happy.
Music, especially new music, always makes me feel better. The iPhone (maybe someday the new one) is full of commuting music. Recently, two new Blu tracks have been put out, today’s TOD: Amnesia, and JBsGone. Both are good, but this sample of Amnesia brings me back to his earlier work with Exile on Below the Heavens. I can’t wait to hear more from one of my favorite artists of 08.

Track of the Day - Exile - “For the Kids”
The web-famed producer behind last years classic album Blu and Exile’s Below The Heavens, recently released his own intrumental album, Radio to itunes. To help promote the album which hits physical stores soon, Exile dropped this gem on the world today.
I’ve had a chance to preview Radio, and although this sounds almost nothing like the album, which is much more experimental, it is a great track. Exile’s production is some of the best out there, and hopefully his release will be succesful enough for him to continue to make great music…and hopefully a follow up album with Blu.

Track of the Day - C.R.A.C. Knuckles “Buy me lunch”
No reason really to post this. Its not that new, wasn’t a major single or anything. I’ve just been jamming out to it all day. Go back and watch Blu’s interview with RedBull to see him talk about the track a bit, and enjoy the randomness of C.R.A.C. knuks….still can’t believe I didn’t see Blu during CMJ.

Johnson&Jonson in-store at Fat Beats next Thursday. This one is going to be packed
In recent Blu & Mainframe news, the duo has lost their red baby Johnny from the comver of the new album, and to help recover the doll, have written a song about it and release the following statement:
Blu & MainFrame ’s Johnson&Jonson Album has been widely noticed and talked about around the world as the CD w/ the “Red Baby” on it. Since the birth of the “Red Baby” a.k.a. “Johnny”, the Johnson’s have brought the iconic “Red Baby” everywhere w/ them including trips to the studio, multiple meetings w/ labels, a couple of liquor stores, and their parties to celebrate the release of their critically acclaimed Album.
A couple weeks ago Blu & the Johnson’s performed at 111 Minna, a club in San Francisco, and brought “Johnny” along for additional support. There are several photos from that night that prove that the “Red Baby” truly was in attendance. He was spotted hanging out w/ the homies, a bunch of Filipino girls and 1 white chick dancing to early 90s hip hop. Towards the end of the show MainFrame noticed and screamed on the mic “Yo, Where’s the “Red Baby” Yo” … at 1:43 a.m. the “Red Baby” was announced as a missing person.
Was the “Red Baby” a victim of a kidnapping? Did a another MC or crazed J&J fan snag the baby off stage? Or was this a conspiracy plotted by a group of young Filipino girls to black mail Blu & MainFrame for some shit.
In hoping that the “Red Baby” gets home safe Blu & MainFrame have posted this unreleased MP3 entitled “Baby Don’t Leave Me Now” to help lure any information pertaining to the missing “Red Baby”. If you have any info email 1_800_JOHNSON@gmail.com
Track of the Day - Johnson & Jonson “Hold on John” (feat. John Lennon)
From one of my favorite artists out there Blu, with help from Mainframe. This is the bonus track on the self titled album. His last album, Below the Heavens, is amazing and this new album is great as well. I threw up a download link for their track “The only way,” by the duo, but this is my favorite track on the album - another great project that got XL in XXL magazine. I couldn’t find that review, but here is a good review of the album.

Evidence and Blue working together on the new LP The Layover. Blu’s last album with Exile Below the Heavens is still one of my favorite albums, and his project work from Johnson&Johnson to C.R.A.C have all been very solid. You could search to hear from him, or you could go check out the 2dopeboyz Cadillac Edition mixtape, featuring him on a number of track along with some of the left coasts best underground artists.
