Track of Day - Sharam ‘She came along’ feat. Kid Cudi
I’ve been gone for a while, my apologies.
Its been a hellish couple weeks, but there have been a few great songs that have helped me grind through the work. With new music recently out from Em, Cudi, Blu, Asher and more it was difficult to pick a track to throw up out of the 20 or so I’ve had on a fairly constant loop the last week +.
It was truly a coin toss between this and Cudi’s latest posse cut ‘Poke her face’ ft the G.O.O.D. music fam, but there is something about the baseline in this track that keeps it stuck in my mind for the entire work day. As more from this artist is released and he begins to build up his press out reach the more anticipation I have for his debut album. Don’t miss out on this one.

Track of the Day Kid Cudi - The Sky Might Fall
It has been over a week since I did a track of the day. Sorry for the regulars, work + a FL trip tomorrow has made for a busy couple weeks.
This track has been floating around for a while now, and although Cudi claims it is not finished, its nice to hear the first glimpse of an album style cut for Man on the Moon.
Last week I posted a video for the new Transformers trailer, praising them for including this Cudi track as a theme for the movie. Turns out, it was all a fake. In the below video interview with MTV, explained how the vid got out:
Cudi said that when he was in L.A., he showed the mashup to West and director Hype Williams, who both encouraged him to put it out.
” ‘Aww, man, that’s perfect. You should put that out, like, now,’ ” Cudi said, mimicking West’s voice. ” ‘Just put it out as a teaser.’ “
Great story. Can’t wait for more from the Kid.

Kid Cudi - The Sky might fall / Transformers
Earlier today I read an interesting take on the Transformers / GM relationship and the fact that the advertising bucks are not going to be as easily thrown around by bailed-out GM. I’m not sure if it has the same reach as a big car companies budget, but having your music partnered up with artists generating buzz in their own right might help ease the blow.
I know when I saw the first Tranfsormers I always found the Bumble-bee character as a GM Mustang to be kind of a take away from the classic VW bug, but I’m sure its hard to turn down those product placement bucks. With money tight for everyone I’m expecting to see less relationships based on money in hand, and hopefully more based on true appreciation of a product or a brand.
This seems to be a great example in the Cudi and Transformers partnership. Its great to see Cudi getting a little mainstream exposure, as his upcoming album is on my short list for most anticipated, and Transformers get a little music blog buzz for their summer smash. Cudi and his fans seem like the exact nerdy demographic that would be excited for this movie and vice versa.

Track of the Day - Kanye West “Anyway” ft Kid Cudi

Kid Cudi talks about being signed to the G.O.O.D. Music family and that he will be featured on Kanye’s next album 808’s and Heartbreak. Also mention some work on his album and his personal plan to have it wrapped in about a month and a half. I’m more excited his album then Mr. Wests right now.
great video from Kid Cudi’s launch party in New York. I waited in line for this…and bailed for another party. I should have know Kanye and more would be showing up.
Cudi has been making a lot of news lately. URB magazine has this great write up about the up-and-coming super star. Click here to check it out. In the piece Cudi describes his music like so:

I couldn’t agree more. His track “Day and Nite” is a straight classic and his performance at Summer Stage was amazing. If you are in NY you can see Kudi perform tomorrow night for $10 bucks.
