QWSTION DJ PACK

Although the era of the DJ lugging around anything more than Serato and a laptop may be over, that hasn’t stopped Zurich based bag brand, QWSTION from releasing an excellent new bag, aimed at the old school DJ. The company has put a number of urban mobility styled gear and their latest has the digger in mind. With space for up to 50 12” records the bag also includes a headphone bag and CD binder with space for 160 albums.

Nixon Newton Watch

New ‘design first’ watch from the Nixon team. As a brand, Newton has done some fantastic accessory work. Their old wood panelled watch, the rotolog always had an appealing quality to it that reminded me quite a bit of my first apartment in college. In addition to great watches, this year the team introduced an excellent line of headphones as well.

Back to the Newton. Priced at $100 and available currently in 4 colors. The band is a custom injected silicone that reminds me a bit of my favorite, the Nooka line. It looks a bit like something you would want to see in person. Some of the pictures on the site look to have a questionable quality level, but with a watch like this its more about the ‘what the F is that factor’ then it becoming a family heirloom.

Cassette MP3 Player

I’m a sucker for this vintage style mp3 player. The concept of being able to rewind by ‘winding’ the tape bring back some nostalgic memories of having my broken Outkast Aquemini tape strung out all over my car. Something like this would probably never see the light of a day, as its a concept, but its great to see the continued love for the tape form factor.

SIDEBAR: “Put the finger in the hole” yup. I laughed. I’m juvenile.

Yanko Design concept : Zero.1 Vinyl/CD Player

This is the best ‘most likely to fail’ item I’ve ever seen. A combined CD and Record player concept that uses a system to read the gaps on the record so you can ‘next’ from track to track without having to lift and drop the players arm. The concept also incorporates a Terabyte hard drive for ripping files.

Interesting concept, and the only company I could see making this work is Bose. I always though their old school radios were ugly and worthless, despite amazingly clear soung–and this was years ago. Some how, they continued to sell and made the brand a house hold name with its infomercial product. Eventually moving on to CD players, changers and now ipod docks, maybe its time to go back to some classic formats.

Burberry The Beat

Burberry The Beat ($55-$65) is a fresh woody fragrance perfect for the changing season. Inside the Burberry-checked metal and glass bottle, you’ll find a combination of leatherwood, vetiver bourbon, cerate, black pepper and violet leaves.

I can’t speak on how this smells- I’ve only come across the new cologne online, but I do like the bottle design.

Cloth LED Clock. 100 pounds for this thing. But its a cool idea. Always be able to change your clock and have it coordinate and match your room/bedding/walls whatever. It reminds me a bit of this wood LED clock thats been around for a while:

You know I may have posted plenty of Pigeon related material on this blog but this is a great item. “Mr. P” t-shirt from Tim Lahan’s Trademark™ website.
